HOW TO TAKE CARE OF EYEGLASSES

To keep your eyeglasses looking their best, it’s crucial to clean them properly. Glasses require proper maintenance to remain in good condition.

There is a significant amount of bacteria present on spectacles, mostly of human skin origin, which may contribute to eye infections and fomites in clinical settings.

There are a few indicators that your glasses need some care. If you wear your glasses for extended periods of time, the sides or lenses of your frames may develop stains as a result of dirt or oil from your skin rubbing against the frame (or even just sitting around). If the frames appear warped or gnarly, they have most likely been neglected.

TIPS TO KEEP THEM LOOKING GOOD:

1. Avoid storing your eyewear in pockets or bags that contain loose change or other small objects that could scratch them. When not in use, keep your glasses in their case. It keeps your glasses from getting scratched, bent, or broken along with keeping dust and dirt away.

2. Never set your glasses on their lens-side down. To prevent scratches, place them appropriately.

3. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or detergents on your lenses as they can harm the coating over time, making it more vulnerable to scratches and scuffs. Instead, clean the lens on both sides with high-quality eyewear cleaners like lens spray, wipes, or cleaning solution.

4. When wiping, use the a microfiber cloth as opposed to tissues, paper towels, or a piece of cloth. These might leave lint on your lenses, reducing visibility.

5.If the eyewear is very dirty, particularly on the sides, corners, and nose pads, soak them in warm water and wipe it down with a towel on these areas rather than the lens surface. If the gunk still won’t come out, have your optician or eyecare professional put them in an ultrasonic bath and they’ll look like new.

6. Each time you use your prescription glasses or sunglasses, clean the lenses. This will keep them clean and debris-free.

7. When wearing and removing your glasses, use both hands. Using one hand could cause one side to become loose, causing the glasses to become out of alignment.

8. Always go for your routine checkup, have your eyesight evaluated, and have your glasses cleaned, adjusted, and fitted.
